After suspending routine home health surveys and medical review activities for months due to the public health emergency, CMS has now announced a return to normal operations for Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs), recovery audit contractors (RACs), Unified Program Integrity Contractors (UPICs), and state survey teams. The Review Choice Demonstration has resumed in Illinois, Texas, and Ohio, after only a brief pause in Florida and North Carolina. Through these actions and more, CMS has made its commitment to medical review very clear.
