Webinar Caring Smarter

People who choose a life of caring — and the organizations and communities they serve — deserve a special kind of support.

Words that can help and those that can harm: How to address myths and misconceptions about hospice

Patients and families often reject hospice, even though it has the potential to prevent and relieve suffering for all involved. Persistent misconceptions among clinicians and laymen continue to create unnecessary barriers to this important source of help, particularly for minority communities. Certain commonly used words and phrases can further misunderstandings and/or leave the patient and family unconvinced about the value of hospice services. As a result, far too many bereaved families lament late engagement of hospice services.

Join us for an informative webinar presented by Dr. Marcia Levetown, who was among the first physicians in the U.S. to be certified in hospice and palliative medicine in 2008 and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

Watch this webinar to learn:
  • Persistent misconceptions about hospice that prevent access to services
  • How to use effective and compassionate means of addressing these misconceptions to enhance diverse hospice enrollment
  • Unmet needs that patients facing serious illness and families have and resources that hospice has, to specifically address these needs
  • New ways to discuss hospice that will broadly appeal to patients and their families

Watch today to get expert tips for achieving effective and compassionate means of addressing these hospice misconceptions.
