An expert in pediatric stem cell transplantation and umbilical cord blood transplantation for immune and nonmalignant disorders.

Dr. Cary Martinez leads one of the nation’s largest pediatric cell therapy and bone marrow transplant programs, where she cares for children with complex immune deficiencies and inherited blood disorders. Her program performs more than 140 bone marrow and cell therapy transplants annually and delivers care in a 25‑bed inpatient transplant unit, serving patients from all 50 states and more than 55 countries.

Her clinical and research focus is on optimizing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (including umbilical cord blood transplantation), conditioning strategies, and immune recovery. Dr. Martinez holds national leadership roles within cord blood and transplant organizations, leads multicenter studies through the NIH‑funded Primary Immune Deficiency Treatment Consortium (PIDTC), and has authored numerous peer‑reviewed publications in leading journals such as Blood and The Lancet.
