On Friday, July 28, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a final rule that increased hospice payments rates for fiscal year (FY) 2024 by 3.1% (less than last year’s 3.8% increase).
Because of the higher costs to deliver care nationwide, CMS boosted the rate increase from the initial 2.8% that was proposed back in March 2023. However, hospice providers have raised concern that this increase is not enough given industry-wide staffing shortages, inflation, and other factors.

She holds a Master of Science in Nursing with a major in nursing informatics. Her experience includes leading home hospice programs as well as freestanding hospice residences. She is an ELNEC trainer and has presented the ELNEC curriculum to organizations of all sizes. She is a member of numerous industry organizations and is committed to excellence in end-of-life care.
