Countdown to HOPE: Key updates & final preparation
As the Hospice Outcomes and Patient Evaluation (HOPE) data collection tool becomes the new standard for hospice reporting starting on October 1, 2025, hospice providers must be ready to record all necessary information from patient visits and to submit that data correctly to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), according to the new requirements. Understanding the technical submission process, timelines, and the WellSky EHR workflows is going to be essential for compliance and operational efficiency.

Katherine Morrison, RN, MSN, CHPN, is the Director of Advisory Services at WellSky. Morrison has worked in hospice for over 20 years, most of which was spent in leadership roles. She holds a master’s degree in nursing with a major in nursing informatics. Her experience includes leading home hospice programs as well as freestanding hospice residences. She is an End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) trainer and has presented the ELNEC curriculum to organizations of all sizes. She is a member of numerous industry organizations and is committed to excellence in end-of-life care.
Barbara Fadeyi is a seasoned product leader with over a decade of experience delivering data-driven SaaS solutions across healthcare, supply chain, and enterprise platforms. As Director of Solutions Management for Hospice & Palliative at WellSky, she drives innovation through regulatory compliance like HOPE, AI-powered enhancements, and platform updates that streamline clinician workflows. Barbara has led transformative initiatives at Walmart, Veriforce, FORVIS, and Netsmart/McKesson, aligning cross-functional teams to deliver impactful, user-centered solutions. With expertise in workflow optimization and stakeholder alignment, she’s helped improve patient outcomes and user experiences across thousands of organizations. With an MBA from Missouri State and a background in Health Economics from UConn, Barbara is energized by the opportunity to lead with purpose and deliver technology that empowers compassionate care.
Alex Schmidt is the Director of Solutions Management at WellSky, leveraging his expertise in healthcare and technology to drive innovation and success. With over a decade of experience, Alex has a proven track record of developing cutting-edge solutions in various healthcare domains. His leadership roles have spanned product management, solutions architecture, and entrepreneurship, and he is passionate about creating solutions that meet the evolving needs of today's healthcare landscape. Alex holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in entrepreneurship.
