The 2021 Hospice Final Rule: An essential overview

Written by Beth Noyce, RN, BSJMC, HCS-C

On July 31, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released its final rule to update hospice payment rates and present regulatory changes for fiscal year 2021. Even as the current public health emergency continues to challenge hospice providers, there are still crucial steps that must be taken to ensure compliance when the rule goes into effect on October 1, 2020.

Hospice consulting expert Beth Noyce, RN, BSJMC, HCS-C recently distilled the final rule into a concise and informative webinar, which is now available on-demand. Now, Beth answers some of the most frequently asked questions from the webinar.

Get answers to these questions and more:

  • With the addendum update to the Notice of Election, will we need to get new consents signed by all existing patients already on service?
  • Does the Election of Benefits require notice of immediate advocacy or is the addendum sufficient?
  • What will the process of advocacy involve? Is this something that hospice agencies will be involved in?
  • Will we need an addendum for OTC medicine or vitamins?
