Webinar Caring Smarter

People who choose a life of caring — and the organizations and communities they serve — deserve a special kind of support.

How the new mental health parity rules will affect your facility

The new mental health parity rules were finalized on September 9, 2024, by the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and the Treasury. Aimed to bolster the parity between mental health (MH), substance use disorder (SUD), and medical/surgical (M/S) benefits, these rules ensure that MH/SUD benefits are not subject to more restrictive financial requirements or treatment limitations than M/S benefits by health plans. The rules also mandate that health plans provide more transparency about how they comply with parity requirements as well as make necessary adjustments if disparities in access to care are identified.

In this webinar, you'll learn more about:
  • The history of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA) and subsequent additions to the act
  • How the mental health parity rules affect organizations through commercial and Managed Medicare health insurance plans
  • How payers need to comply with the rules for parity and equity of treatment decisions
