Post-acute care facilities: Keeping up with recent electronic data-sharing and price transparency requirements
Providers at post-acute care facilities are used to adapting to new regulations and legislative requirements. In fact, there were just two recent legislative and regulatory actions — the 21st Century Cures Act (Cures Act), which pertains to the sharing of patient data, and the No Surprises Act, which establishes the right of patients to receive estimates of costs from both providers and health plans — that required providers to again alter processes and re-train staff.
However, no matter how experienced providers are with change, each ruling comes with its own unique impacts. As such, the most important thing post-acute care facilities should be doing is working with their technology partners and IT staff to determine necessary steps to stay compliant with this new legislation while continuing to provide the best patient care.
