Moderated by Bonnie Geld, MSW, President and CEO, The Center for Case Management, this panel will feature leaders from top organizations across the nation to explore critical challenges facing the modern healthcare landscape and the myriad of ways technology can be harnessed to achieve optimal patient and financial outcomes. Panelists will share how they’ve overcome challenges to develop proactive strategies for managing patient populations at scale while increasing data transparency to optimize care delivery and drive value across settings of care. Panelists will include healthcare leaders such as:

Meet our speakers!


Bonnie Geld, MSW, President and CEO, The Center for Case Management

Bonnie Geld, MSW is President and CEO of The Center for Case Management and, brings over 20 years of experience in the area of Case Management with a focus on the design of longitudinal case management programs, strategic design and development of transition programs, process improvement, team building, and successful integration of social work and RN roles.

She has been the System Director for Case Management Services for a five-hospital system in Western Massachusetts, Director of Care Management in Minneapolis and Houston, and has developed and implemented successful Care Management programs in other states, both in Large Adult Systems in Oklahoma and Children’s Health Systems in Texas. She has launched a variety of educational programs and workshops on promoting lean actions, team interventions, rapid-cycle assessments, and integrated care planning.


Drew Oliveira, MD, MHA, Executive Director, Washington Health Alliance

Dr. Drew Oliveira joined the Alliance in August 2022 as its fourth executive director since it was founded in 2004. Oliveira, who started his career as a family medicine physician at Sea Mar Community Health Center in Seattle, has nearly four decades of experience in medicine and health plan leadership.Before joining the Alliance, Dew served as Regence BlueShield of Washington’s Senior Executive Medical Director and Population Health. He previously held senior roles with Aetna Inc. Prior to joining Aetna, Oliveira practiced medicine for more than 17 years at UW Medicine Valley Medical Center in Renton.

Drew earned his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco. He holds a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Washington. Oliveira completed his family medicine residency at Swedish Hospital Medical Center.


Karen S. Johnson, Ph.D., Vice President, Practice Advancement, American Academy of Family Physicians

Karen is an accomplished leader with experience that spans traditional health care boundaries having worked with employers, plans, providers, and health systems over her 30+ year career. Understanding each of these unique perspectives fuels her work as a translator, bridge-builder and change agent. Her long-standing personal mission is to make healthcare work better for more people at a cost they can afford. Ensuring that primary care is adequately funded, appropriately evaluated, and connected to the broader healthcare ecosystem in a patient-centered manner has been the central focus of these efforts for many years.

In her role at the American Academy of Family Physicians, Karen’s teams include the Center for Payment Innovation focused on moving primary care payment toward appropriately funded, prospective models and the Center for Career and Practice with the mission of equipping family physicians to enjoy successful careers in a variety of practice settings and roles.
