Growing a partnership across settings of care: How Columbus Hospital LTACH integrated one solution for two settings of care
When you’re undergoing a period of transition and growth, you want to ensure that you have a partner who can support your goals, no matter how ambitious.
Columbus Hospital LTACH opened in 2010 as a 63-bed long-term acute care hospital (LTACH). To address the urgent need created by the growing epidemic of mental health diseases with co-occurring drug addiction, Columbus Hospital LTACH is opening a dual diagnosis treatment department to provide psychiatric and addiction services to adults 18 years of age and older. The new department will add over 65 beds to the facility.
To serve the community with this new behavioral health distinct part unit (DPU), Columbus Hospital LTACH needed a partner who could streamline processes, helping the organization run as one.

Carrie O'Connell, RN, is the Director, Clinical Product Manager for WellSky. Carrie's wealth of knowledge and expertise in health care informatics spans more than 20 years. Carrie's focus includes the strategic design and direction of clinical products, regulatory guidance, educational services, customer training, and implementation success. Currently, Carrie serves as a board member and is involved with the National Association for the Support of Long-Term Care (NASL), which represents rehabilitation- therapy companies, IT developers, and other ancillary services providers. Carrie is actively involved with NASL's IT and Medical Services Committees and its IMPACT Act Workgroup. Carrie was recently named to participate in CMS's LTACH Function Quality Measure Development Technical Expert Panel (TEP).
