A breakdown of the IRF-PPS FY2022 proposed rule

Each year, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) release information on rulemaking that impacts Medicare payment rules. These detailed releases inform providers about proposed payment and policy updates. On April 12, CMS issued the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) Prospective Payment System (PPS) proposed rule for fiscal year (FY) 2022.

In this tip sheet, inpatient rehabilitation expert Angela Philips, PT breaks down the 96-page proposed rule. Rehabilitation providers should download and share this summary so they are informed of proposed changes and can contribute during the CMS comment period which ends on June 7.
