Leveraging resource management to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic

Written by: Cathy Dwyer and Al Fiandaca

No healthcare organization can operate effectively or efficiently without access to the right resources – the people and things that make healthcare happen. Understanding how patient demand impacts staff and equipment usability and productivity can provide your organization with the insights needed to conquer any challenge.

COVID-19 has heightened the importance of resource management as facilities try to track equipment, reopen facilities, and more. This timely white paper provides organizations with practical guidance by demonstrating how one organization used resource management tools to address an anticipated patient surge during the first few months of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In this white paper, you will learn why resource management is important in the everyday operations of healthcare organizations. Readers will learn how resource management helps prevent scheduling conflicts, communication errors, and clinician underuse or overuse.

In this free white paper, Cathy Dwyer, Vice President and CIO of Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, explains how their team used resource management to:

  • Adapt to a new way of providing care
  • Realign staff and equipment during the COVID-19 surge
  • Understand the impact of care on caregivers during the pandemic
