A summary for LTACH providers: The 2022 Proposed Rule for Medicare Long Term Care Hospital Payments

On April 27, the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued its annual proposed rule for fiscal year (FY) 2022 for inpatient and long-term care hospital (LTCH) payments. Long-term acute care providers are encouraged to review the rule to learn more about the provisions that are directly applicable to LTCH payments and quality reporting. Providers are also encouraged to submit comments on the proposed legislation before June 28, 2021.

In this document, experienced healthcare consultant Stanley Nachimson breaks down the 721-page proposed rule to help LTACH providers understand the most important parts of the legislation.
